Reverend Kelvin T. Calloway
The Reverend Kelvin T. Calloway, D.Min, was born in Herlong, California. Educated in the Mobile County (AL) public school system, he received the Bachelor of Science degree (Business Administration) from Texas Southern University (Houston, TX) in 1975. One year later, Calloway earned a Master of Business Administration degree (Organizational Behavior and Marketing) from the University of Illinois – Champaign. Further studies resulted in the Master of Divinity degree from Alabama Interdenominational Seminary (Mobile, AL) and a second Master of Divinity degree – and the Doctor of Ministry degree (Ethics and Preaching) from the Southern California School of Theology at Claremont in 1988.

Dr. Calloway has varied business-related experiences. He has been employed as an Industrial Engineer with Ingalls Shipbuilding, Pascagoula, Mississippi, a Financial Services Representative with the Metropolitan Insurance Company, a Commercial Investment Specialist with Century 21 Real Estate Corporation, Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Business Administration, S. D. Bishop State Community College, Executive Director of Strongly Oriented For Action (a church sponsored social service agency) La Jolla, California. Additionally, he served as visiting Professor of Preaching and Ethics, St. Paul School of Theology, Kansas City, Missouri, and a member of the National Advisory Committee for The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Last Acts Campaign.

Dr. Calloway was ordained an itinerant deacon in the Central Alabama Conference of the Ninth Episcopal District of the A.M.E. Church in 1984 and an itinerant elder in the Southern California Annual Conference of the Fifth Episcopal District of the A.M.E Church in 1986. He has pastored rural, urban and suburban churches in Alabama, California and Kansas. Dr. Calloway is the recipient of numerous honors and awards. Among them are Outstanding Young Men of America, 1979, Who’s Who of La Jolla, California 1989, and the Wilshire Preaching Award, Claremont, California 1988. Dr Calloway had been featured in numerous news publications both locally and nationally to include The Los Angeles Sentinel, Our Weekly, The Kansas City Call, The Kansas City Globe, The Kansas City Star, The Los Angele Times, The New York Times, NPR Radio and PBS Television.
Presently, Dr. Calloway is the Pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Los Angeles, California, President of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Churches, and a Candidate for Bishop in the A.M.E. Church in 2012. He is married to the former Jacquelyn Ledbetter Langston, and they have four adult children.

First Lady Jacquelyn Langston Calloway

Mrs. Jacquelyn Langston Calloway is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana and grew up in Kansas City, Kansas a child of the parsonage. Her parents are Rev. Dr. and Mrs. W.C. West, pastor of the historic Antioch Baptist Church in Shreveport. She was educated in Kansas City KS public schools and attended Grambling State University, Grambling Louisiana and Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology.

Mrs. Calloway is a member of Tau Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She has served as president of the Mary A. Campbell Women’s Missionary Society while at Second AME Church and currently serves as president of the Southern California AME Clergy Spouses Organization. She is also financial secretary for the Fifth District Clergy Family Organization. Mrs. Calloway is retired from GlaxoSmithkline Pharmaceutical Co. where she held positions in sales, training and management.

Mrs. Calloway is happily married to Rev. Dr. Kelvin T. Calloway, senior pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Los Angeles and they are proud parents to 4 children. Three are currently attending school at The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, University of Missouri-Kansas City and Tennessee State University, Nashville. Their oldest daughter is a graduate of the University of Kansas and is currently completing a Masters program. Mrs. Calloway enjoys travel, art, theater and music when not engaged in her primary responsibilities as wife and mother.
